Some more news about Black...

Here's some more news about Black. Black is the story of Rani Mukherjee. She is a bright girl, but with only one weakness. She is deaf and blind. As a result, the world is like black silence to her. She gets depressed about all this.

Amitabh Bachchan is an alcholic. He is obsessed with teaching deaf and blind people. After these two meet, Amitabh realises Rani is a special kind of person. She needs special treatement. Amitabh's only dream now is to make Rani be a normal girl and do what normal girls. Slowly, Rani improves.

But Amitabh contracts Alzheimer (excuse the spelling!) disease. Now positions are reversed. Can Rani make Amitabh remember her thoughts ? Will Rani ever be a normal girl again ?

Black seems like a really cool film which almost everyone have made up their mind to see.

See you all tomorrow..I got an history exam *rolls his eyes*

The Upcoming Movies...

Here’s my prediction on the upcoming movies in the order of expected release.

Here's my key:
* Dismal failure
** Flop
***Below Average
****Average
***** Above Average
******Hit
******* Blockbuster (very rare!)

Vaada - Releasing 7th January
Starring : Arjun Rampal, Zayed Khan, Amisha Patel
This movie should bring in the viewers for the first week due to the immense curiosity about it. What happens next will depend on how the movie is. But the promos don't look bad, and my verdict is an above-average film
Verdict: *****

Rog - Releasing 7th January
Starring : Irrfan, Himanshu Malik, Ilene Hamann
This movie is not going to be a hit. There might be curiosity about it due to South African supermodel Ilene Hamann but that can't itself save it. This is going to be below average!
Verdict : ***

Yehi Hai Zindagi - Releasing 7th January
Starring : Gracy Singh
Poor Gracy Singh ! After a wonderful "Lagaan", she has to get saddled with unknown films. I see no scope for this movie. Flop.
Verdict: **

Insan - Releasing 14th January
Starring : Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Esha Deol, Lara Dutta
Even though this film has got a good cast, I don't think it will really blaze the charts. The promos haven't looked very enticing and it seems that run of the mill formula film.
Verdict : ***

Elaan - Releasing 14th January
Starring : John Abraham, Arjun Rampal, Rahul Khanna, Amisha Patel, Lara Dutta, Mithun Chakroborty
This should be a hit for me. I think the promos have been very good and the story looks pretty nice. Add the star cast and the return of Mithun and you get a great film.
Verdict : ******

Ho Sakta Hai - Releasing 14th January
Starring : Victor Banerjee
This was a film, which created lots of curiosity after the first promos. But now that the promos have gone off air, this film has lost its opportunity.
Verdict : ***

Kisna - Releasing 21st January
Starring : Vivek Oberoi, Isha Sharvani, Antonia Bernath, Sushmita Sen (special appearance)
This should be a huge hit, if not a big blockbuster. The return of Subash Ghai has made the families make a beeline to it. The look of Vivek Oberoi has been a topic of discussion. Should be a huge hit.
Verdict : ******

Black - Releasing 21st January
Starring : Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee
"Black is going to go the Oscars" says Karan Johar. This film seems to be great one. The promos have been super and with Sanjay Leela Bhansali choosing a very good topic, this film has all the makings to be a blockbuster.
Verdict : *******

That is all for today. So, now lets see whether my predictions can come true or not. Please comment on my predictions because I'd love hearing others.

Swades and other...

I saw Swades the other day, and was shell-shocked. Before it was going to release, I had huge expectations from it. But after its release, the bad reviews put me off. I didn't think of going to watch it for a long time. However I was dragged into it yesterday. What I saw left me speechless. What I saw was no documentary, no preaching, but just a simple gentle message about our homeland. Swades has only two sequences, which amazed me. But these two sequences were so life-like, so well executed that it brought tears to my eyes. These were not romantic scenes and its the first time, I've cried in a film other than a romantic. Shah Rukh Khan has been wonderful. Showing restraint after a long time, he plays his character to perfection. Going are his jokes, going is his style of teasing the heroine. It is not him anymore, but the Mohan Bhargava, a simple NRI who returns to India. Gayatri Joshi is wonderful in all scenes. She should have got a much bigger role and a much meatier role. This girl is good. I would fully recommend Swades. Do not think that it is escapist cinema. It will not entertain you. It will just give you a simple message. I'll say just that for today.... tomorrow, I'll give you my thoughts on the upcoming films and whether they'll be hits or not.
